Yang Liu can be
heard on his debut recording, Song of Nostalgia, which features traditional
Chinese songs and repertoire for the violin. Mr. Liu has been presented the
"Lady Tennant"
Stradivarius violin -- this concert marks the violin's return to the concert
stage. Scheduled performances are: Bach Chaconne, Beethoven Spring
Sonata, and Prokofiev Sonata Op. 94a in D major.

08-Jul-2005 - DUOS AMONG FRIENDS explores chamber music's most intimate
genre, including "Martinu's Duo No. 2 for violin and cello", performed by guest
artist Paul Kantor on violin and Anthony Elliott; "Violin duet by Bartok,
Wieniawsky and Prokofiev", performed by Rachel Barton Pine and
Yang Liu; and
Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola, in a special arrangement for
string sextet by Csaba Erdéyi, performed by Rachel Barton Pine, Csaba Erdéyi,
Karen Ritscher and Masuko Ushioda.
15-Jul-2005 - AMERICAN IDYLL celebrates American music: from Barber's
Adagio for strings, Gershwin's Lullaby for string quartet, and Copland's Hoedown
from " Rodeo" for strings, to works inspired by American folk music, spirituals,
and Jazz, including pieces by Dvorak ("American"Quartet: second movement) and
Mark O'Connor (F.C.'s Jig for violin and viola; Chief Sitting in the Rain for
string trio; Limerick for two violins; Strings and Threads for violin and
strings). The eclectic program also features Perkinson's Calvary Ostinato for
solo cello, Menotti's Suite for two cellos (last two movements), Gershwin-Heifetz's
Prelude No.1 for violin and piano, Schonfield's Caf? Music for piano trio (last
movement), and Vieuxtemps' Souvenir d'Amerique for violin and piano. The
evening's artists are Rachel barton Pine, Denis Brott, Lynn Chang, Anthony
Elliott, Csaba Erdéyi, Matthew Hagle,
Yang Liu, Mona Rashad,
Karen Ritscher, and Russell Rolen.
